REGIS LAWSON BIO

Born in 1977 in Poitiers, France, Regis Lawson spent most of his childhood in the Ivory Coast, West Africa. First child of a modest family of three, his interest in art started blooming around the age of nine. Using charcoal as his medium he would draw on any available surface, portraits of family members, and friends. With time he developed his talent to the point where he needed other medium as a source of inspiration for his creativity. At an early age, he started experimenting with photography. This was the beginning of his deep love for the camera.

He won many photo contests as part of his high school art club. In 1998, he moved to the United States to further his education at University of Memphis, and received a Bachelor’s degree in business administration with a minor in Photography.

Under the guidance of a renowned Nigerian artist Ephraim Urevbu and others, he developed his skills to the notices of major newspapers and magazines as a freelance photographer. Relentless pursuit of perfection has made this internationally known photographer’s works sought after both by private and public collectors.

“Photography has provided for me the medium to capture the beauty around us, beauty which occurs as flashes of moment in time as it speeds by and disappear never to be seen nor experienced again.
