Amarachi Odimba

Amarachi Odimba is a self taught multimedia artist whose practice explores the complexities of human relationships, identity, sexuality, education and migration. Her works span across paintings, drawing, public participatory art and installation.

Her paintings are mostly abstract-figurative with a spontaneous, expressive and fluid approach combining colour drips and gestural brush strokes. Utilizing personal iconography and allegorical imagery, she portrays her figures in ambivalent expressions to reference social and economical realities.

Recently, she has been working on plastic tartan bags, popularly called Ghana-must-go, which she incorporates as a visual metaphor to interrogate migration issues.
